Buying A Kids Sewing Machine

When looking for a kids sewing machine for your child you do need to take some time to decide on the best sewing machine for your child. In my post on kids sewing machine I am going to give information to help you make a more informed decision.

Kids Sewing Machine Choices

From my research there are two choices when buying a new sewing machine for your child. The choices are between a kids sewing machine toy or a beginners sewing machine.

Kids Sewing Machine Toy

Kid sewing machine toys are lighter and smaller than an adult sewing machine, to make it easier for a child to use. They also have kids sewing machine toymore limited functionality. They will normally only do chain stitch which needs to be tied at each end to prevent the stitch from pulling out. These kids sewing machine toys will normally be battery operated.
From the reviews I have seen (which are mixed) the kids sewing machine toy with some of the better reviews is the Nkok Hello Kitty Chain Stitch Sewing Machine. It looks cute and is easy to use for small children and comes with a needle guard to prevent stitching of small figures. It is inexpensive – below $20. But some people are not satisfied with its functionality. Overall for a kids sewing machine and if you have experience with sewing machines and realize it is a toy, it is worth taking a look at. You can find more customer reviews on the Nkok Hello Kitty Chain Stitch Sewing Machine here at Amazon.

A Beginners Sewing Machine As A Kids Sewing Machine

The other way is to buy a beginners sewing machine for your child. When buying a beginners sewing machine for a child the considerations are safety (most don’t come with a needle guard), what sewing projects are you and your child planning, the functionality, the affordability, the ease of use and the weight of the machine.
The basic functionality to look for as minimum is to have simple buttonhole creation, zigzag stitch, ease of straight stitch sewing and variable presser foot pressure. The ease of use is about setting up the machine, threading the needle etc. Also, are the instructions easy to follow with clear diagrams?
A Good Idea For A Kids Sewing MachineThe research I’ve done  it appears to that the Brother XL2610 Free-Arm Sewing Machine should be seriously considered for a kids sewing machine. The Brother XL2610 Free-Arm Sewing Machine reviews talk about it being easy to set up and use. It has an easy buttonhole function and 25 built in stitches. The machine is relatively light and small and it comes in pink. You can read more about it at Amazon here and it is reasonably priced with a discount;
In summary the two choices for a kids sewing machine are the child’s toy sewing machine or a sewing machine designed for the beginner.
